wikipoem
An endless slideshow of images and their captions from Wikipedia. Each image travels with its caption; the next pair is chosen by free association: a caption that evokes the next picture, a picture that finds its next caption, images that rhyme across unrelated subjects. Walks leave faint trails, so earlier poems shape later ones.
Tap the right of the screen to move on, the left to go back; space pauses.

Images come from Wikimedia Commons, each under its own free licence (public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA). The author, licence and source of every image is linked beneath it as it is shown. Captions are taken from Wikipedia articles, available under CC BY-SA 4.0; each caption links to its article.
Image-caption data from Google Research's WIT dataset. CAPTCHA-style prompts are our own, set on Commons photographs; no reCAPTCHA material is used.
